Paris

Second part : Paris

In Paris, people are often in the habit of leaving books on benches, window sills or even on the floor in boxes for new readers. I was lucky, on one afternoon in April 2016, to come across an unexpected treasure, an open-air library of Greek and Roman antiquity.Books were laid out on a public bench in front of 79 Avenue Denfert-Rochereau: Virgil, Cicero, Thucydides, Pindar, Aristophanes…
From Andros, and my forgotten personal library in Greece, to the few books left on a bench in Paris, I had something to continue and develop this project on the text doomed to disappear.

The title LUCRECE & APOSTOLI, composed of two words – LUCRECE in French and APOSTOLI in Greek – alludes to the first two book titles I worked with :
Lucrèce, De Natura Rerum, book I-II, 1st century B.C.
New Testament, Acts of the Apostles, The Epistle to the Galatians, 47-52 CE.
