THE TEXT AS A MATERIAL

THE TEXT AS A MATERIAL

For many years, my approach as an artist has consisted in seeking astonishment in the transformation of matter, in discovering the paths it proposes for possible futures.
In this work I approach a new material, a borrowed material: the printed text.
The idea here is to extract a few words, a few sentences from the story of a book in order to inscribe my own subjectivity in it.
Toute disparition suppose un spectateur ; c’est bien cette conviction …qui a fondé le sentiment de la vanité des choses ; … Ce jeu troublant de la proximité et de la disparition… *
My attention was drawn to used books that were doomed to destruction.
Written by unknown and forgotten authors, these books have never been awarded a prize (or) and have never been included in a prestigious publishing house list.
In homage to any creation doomed to disappear.
